HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a completely safe and medically approved method of using the unconscious part of the mind to help people resolve problems and achieve their goals. I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist and in my extensive experience found hypnotherapy effective in helping clients overcome a wide range of problems.  These include:

  • Agoraphobia

  • Eating disorders

  • Examination nerves e.g. taking a driving test

  • Insomnia

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

  • Low Self-esteem and Lack of Confidence

  • Nail biting

  • Smoking

  • Sexual problems

  • Stage fright

  • Tension and Anxiety

  • Stress-related difficulties e.g. excessive sweating and ‘nervous’ rashes

How does Hypnotherapy work?    Most of us enter a hypnotic state twice a day. It’s the relaxed dream-like state between being half asleep and fully awake. Again, at night we enter a natural trance just before we finally drift off to sleep. However, on both occasions, while our conscious mind is simply ‘ticking over’, our unconscious mind is wide awake and at its most receptive and creative. No wonder many artists and scientists claim they have their best ideas and breakthroughs while half awake!  And it’s in this relaxed state that suggestions for improving your health and wellbeing will take hold and continue to work for you long after the hypnotherapy session ends.

What happens in a Hypnotherapy session?   Through the sound of my voice and words of instruction I will enable you to enter the relaxed stages of hypnosis. Films, television and stage shows have lead to the belief that hypnosis induces a state of helplessness and that under its influence a person automatically loses their willpower and self-control . Nothing could be further from the truth. Hypnosis cannot make anyone do anything they do not want to do.  You will not go to sleep. Neither will you become unconscious.  At all times you will remain fully aware of what is going on and, should anything demand your attention, you will immediately be able to respond appropriately.

Although you will not lose consciousness, you will experience a feeling of calmness and relaxation and it is during this state that you will find it easy, surprisingly easy, to begin to act on positive suggestions for your health and well-being, shed unwanted habits and make the changes and life choices that are right for you.
